Dr. Johann Craus is an obstetrician
and gynaecologist with a special interest in diabetes in pregnancy. He graduated
as a medical doctor from the University of Malta in 1999, completed his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training
in the UK and became a specialist in 2007. He has also received his Fellowship
from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, UK. Dr
Craus furthered his studies with a doctoral degree in philosophy in pregnancies
complicated with gestational diabetes. He is a specialist at Mater Dei
Hospital, and forms part of the Diabetic Pregnancy joint clinic at the
hospital. Dr. Craus manages low risk care and supports the facilitation of
normality in childbirth. He is also a specialist in managing high risk obstetric
cases such as Caesarian sections, external cephalic versions, operative vaginal
deliveries and emergency obstetric care. He is experienced in the management of
infertility, including assisted reproductive technology as well as in the
running of a family planning clinic in the UK. Dr. Craus performs open, vaginal
and laparoscopic gynaecological surgery for malignancy, prolapse and benign
gynaecological conditions. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta
and has presented numerous research studies in conferences abroad in diabetes
in pregnancy. He is married to Nathalie and they have two daughters, Elisa and
Emma.
